With the churches stripped of their ornaments, the altars bare and the tabernacles empty, the church is in mourning. Priests from around the diocese directed our focus to the suffering and death of Jesus. A suffering and death which ultimately reconciles us with God.
“God loves us so much, that in Jesus, he showed us the true price of sin…and the greatness of his Love” said Bishop Malloy.
Good Friday serves as a time for the entire Church to turn her attention to the Cross at Calvary and through that, contemplate our own death to sin in the Death of our Lord. All of the faithful are given the opportunity to adore Jesus through the veneration of the cross which is an inseparable representation of His sacrifice. “Because of Christ’s death, precisely because of the death of Christ, you and I are offered forgiveness.”
