Diocese to Join in Prayers for Iraq
Date: August 13, 2014
Bishop David Malloy has asked the faithful of the Rockford Diocese to join in prayer for Iraq this weekend, Aug. 16-17. Bishop Malloy has asked priests to include the recitation of an Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be before the dismissal at each of the Masses celebrated in parishes this weekend. “I ask that this be done in particular solidarity with those who are suffering in Iraq and in a special way with our fellow Christians and Catholics,” Bishop Malloy said.
The Chaldean Catholic Patriarch of Iraq, His Beatitude Louis Rafael Sako, has asked Pope Francis and the universal church to join in prayer. Please join in these prayers this weekend and remember those suffering in Iraq and the Christian communities under siege there in your personal prayers as well.
