Bishop Visits Dixon Correctional Center

Date: March 27, 2015

There were some familiar faces in the group of 40 men who came for confession and Mass at the Dixon Correctional Center the afternoon of March 25, the day for Catholics throughout the diocese to Be Reconciled. It was a second trip to the center by Bishop David Malloy, who had provided those sacraments to Dixon Catholic inmates on Be Reconciled day in spring 2014.

The bishop fit this year’s Dixon visit between assistance with morning and evening confessions at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Rockford. “I remember my first visit (here) very well – it made a big impact on me,” he said to the inmates. “I wanted to come back!”

For more on the bishop’s visit and on Be Reconciled Day throughout the diocese, see the April 3 Observer.
