In Memoriam: Rev. Edward J. Seisser

The Chancery received word Monday, August 17, 2015, that Reverend Edward J. Seisser, died on Sunday, August 16, 2015. Father was born on December 15, 1957, in Elgin, Illinois, to Joseph F. and Shirley F. (Knudsen) Seisser.
Father Seisser attended Cardinal Stritch University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and continued to Sacred Heart School of Theology, Hales Corners, Wisconsin. He was ordained to the priesthood on May 16, 1998, by the Most Reverend Thomas G. Doran at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Rockford, Illinois. Father’s first assignment was as Parochial Vicar at St. John Neumann Parish, St. Charles, Illinois (6/1998-6/2001); Pastor, St. Mary Parish, Elgin, Illinois (6/2001-10/2011); Superintendent and Principal at St. Edward Central Catholic High School, Elgin, Illinois (4/2006-7/2009); Pastor, Holy Family Parish, Rockford, Illinois (10/2011-7/2014); Chaplain, Knights of Columbus Holy Family Council (11/2011-11/2014); Pastor, St. Catherine of Siena Parish, Dundee, Illinois and St. Mary Parish, Gilberts, Illinois (7/2014-present) and Superintendent of St. Edward Central Catholic High School, Elgin, Illinois (7/2014-present).
Father is survived by his mother Shirley, sisters Mary Ellen (James) Nelson and Anne (Gary) Belcher, brothers Gilbert and Greg, nieces and nephews and many cousins, brother priests and special friends. He is predeceased by his Father Joseph.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, August 21, 2015, at 11:00AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Dundee. Visitation will be from 4PM-7PM Thursday, August 20 at the church with rosary at 7:00PM and visitation from 10:00AM-10:45AM at the church prior to the Mass. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Elgin, Illinois. Arrangements are being made by Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, Illinois.
Holy Family Church in Rockford will hold a funeral service (not a Mass) at 11 a.m. on Friday for those who are unable to go to Dundee for Father Seisser’s funeral. The service should last 30-40 minutes. It will not include communion. All are welcome.
