Time for Blue Masses Around the Diocese

A Blue Mass will be held on September 9, at 8:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Peter, 1243 N. Court St., Rockford. All are welcome to come to honor and pray for police, fire fighters, EMTs and other first responders.

The Knights of Columbus, St. Wendelin Council #12841 in Shannon, will again host a Blue Mass to honor and pray for law enforcement, fire fighters and emergency service personnel. This year’s event will be held on Thursday, September 10 (not on the 11th) beginning with a procession at 6:30 p.m. from St. Wendelin Church around the block to the Shannon Fire House. The Blue Mass will start at 7 p.m. at the fire house. It will be celebrated by Father Michael Bolger, St. Wendelin pastor. Light refreshments will follow. Questions to Bill Spoerlein at 815-541-9420. Those who sacrificed so much at the 9-11 attacks will be remembered throughout. All are welcome.

A Blue Mass will be held Sept. 17, 7 p.m., at Holy Angels Church, 180 S. Russell Ave., Aurora. Offered for police, fire and emergency medical personnel and first responders. Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, Cardinal Bellarmine Council 4849.
