Founder's Feast Day Celebrated

Bishop David Malloy blesses the Poor Clare nun after celebrating Mass on the feast of St. Clare, Aug. 11, at their Corpus Christi Monastery chapel in Rockford. During his homily, the bishop expressed his gratitude for the 100 years of prayers and presence of the nuns in the diocese. As publisher, he presented a check, notes and cards collected from a signature ad published in The Observer on July 8 in honor of the Poor Clares’ centennial. The Observer staff framed the signature ad for the nuns.
